Description

I designed a wordmark and branding system for Machu Picchu, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The identity reflects the site’s status as an architectural feat, its iconic terraces, and its cultural significance within the Incan Empire. The wordmark’s layered lines form the letter “M,” symbolizing both the height of the surrounding mountains and the site’s elevated location. The uneven line endings, where the typography intersects with the form, abstractly reference the terraced landscape that defines Machu Picchu. To demonstrate the system in use, I created a poster for a hypothetical celebration, showcasing how the wordmark functions in situ as part of a broader visual identity.
